If there were lions in the streets of Berjek, I’d already be gone

The title of my post may be humor, but you shouldn’t laugh. One lion could wipe out my whole village. Most of the people in my town are weaklings. I am the only one here with any muscles. Actually, some of the girls have excellent hip muscles (you know what I mean, ha ha).

This is an excellent video for its filmic quality. It captures the band Lions In The Street in their natural habitat. They practice in a fancy music studio, eat a meal fit for kings, and let the beer flow freely. Not only do these guys have rock star attitude, but they have a budget that lets them carry their attitude to reality. I like to think of myself as having a similar attitude, but I unfortunately cannot afford Chinese food every day or rent for a special room for all my music guitar and drums. I want to mention that I did try Chinese food once based on a recipie Yanimu downloaded from the Ebay. It was as excellent as the American Cinema makes it seem. In my opinion this band deserves their extravagant lifestyle, but should beware that they may not be the biggest rock stars one day, and will have to adjust their attitude.

What the hell is a TX81Z?

Ok, I will answer my own question from the very good website Wikipedia. The TX81Z is a type of synthesizer (and its also the name of the song in the video). In case you are of wondering, a synthesizer is like a piano mixed with a computer. This video is by The Black Neon. I like both the song TX81Z and its video, but I don’t think the audios and the visuals are good mixing. The images show little advertisments with the band inside, and at the end everyone puts on sunglasses and that pretty much the end. This is political commentary on how we see advertising everywhere (well, almost everywhere… in Berjek the only ads are for the club that I am a DJ at, and I hand draw each of those every Thursday evening). But, I am sure culture in Berjek is different that the UK where the band is from. Maybe they should come to visit me and do an alternate video feature their synthesizer sitting in the middle of a cow pasture.

Update on my podcast

In case you are wondering about what I said in my first post, I still want to make a podcast with the microphone my sister bestowed upon me, but I have not yet figured out how to interface it with the computer. In my research I have discovered it does not plug in similar to a keyboard or mouse. I will need an audio interface by Firewire or USB. I’m not sure exactly what this means, but I have a friend 3 towns over who can get his hands on anything in the black market. This of course includes the best hifi equipment. He was the dude who helped me bring the Berjek disco to the forefront. I will contact him and request his connecting me with the audio device. He will help because I’m a cool dude like him.

Your hair is as important as alcohol

One of the most important things to look for in a music video is the style of the singer’s hair. From this hair alone, you can tell if the band is good or horrible. The video for the band The Lapdancers of their song Still Here, is a perfect example of good hair meaning good music. The lead singer’s hair is honest, genuine, and real; things I admire very much. Also, according to this article, the lead singer was hammered throughout the video shoot (and the song is about a friend of the band who died from drinking). These guys remind me of The Counting Crows in only the best of ways.

Underworld is a very nice electronic band

Our planting season is long over. We cannot import psychedelics often, nor can we easily grow our own. My mother does have a special tea recipe that when mixed with the music of Underworld produces similar euphoric feelings. These guys make excellent music. I play their music much when I go DJ. I like to dance like how Karl Hyde dances in the Two Months Off off video. But, I also like to dance better than him.

I have a special bonus for you, of post two Underworld videos. Because I’m a generous man.

Video Formula Equals

You may be thinking that the music video forumla is hot girls, fast cars, shining jewels, lots of cuts, celebrities, and exploding buildings. You are wrong. The formula for a great video is a 16mm camera, close-ups of flora, breakdancing, rollerskating, paper airplanes, black people on bicycles, old ladies eating apples, ladybugs, and most importantly – regular people dancing. This formula is timeless and will work over and over again.

Louis Louis by Teitur is one of the thousands of videos out there that uses this formula. Like the song says, “Louis Louis, every living being is a dancer.”

Trapped Underwater by The Majestic Twelve

Behold this Trapped Underwater video by The Majestic Twelve. It had a very dark theme. I will bet in America no one will watch this video because everyone has Attention Deficit Disorder, but if any one of my readers is from the USA! then I suggest you pay attention. The video is slow on purpose. It is shot underwater on 35 mm film. The directors Thomas Lien and Joachim Solum are from Norway.

The music is good, sort of reminding me of the fast System Of A Down style meets 1980s New Wave and Punk. The music itself is not projecting about politics. The lyrics turn inward. They are about love and reality. And everything on the screen (except the lady who comes diving) is blue. There are many bubble in this video, and there is a dog swimming, and also people blending into the background also swimming.

First posting is arrival

Good morning, I am very excited to type in my first post. For those of you who don’t know who I am, I AM MAXIMUS TRAXIMUS. I am your friend, your DJ, and your lover. I’m going to use this blog to post about my personal life matter, my favorite listenings of music, and I’m going to make a podcast with the microphone my sister brough back from the Ukraine when she visited there.

Just to give you some idea of me. I waited in a queue for using Lobsky’s computer for a few hours. Lobsky is one of two people in Berjek who owns a computer. It is an Apple G4, so it is fast and the best and also good for creative excercises. All the designers with black rimmed glasses use this computer. I am infinately bad in English, luckily the Apple G4 has a spelling check function. The other computer in town is a Panasonic laptop that is 486 not even Pentium.

What else should I tell you. I am twenty years old, live in an apartment with my best friend Yanimu, work as a sweeper, and DJ in the club in the night. I don’t have a girlfriend and both my parents are still alive. I am the best DJ in the region, and look forward to being all of your friends.
